Welcome to Our Blog

Our APS Ambassadors (2007)

Hi, there!

This blog is to commemorate the 2nd collaboration between a local school in India and Anderson Primary School in Singapore. To find out more about what we had done for our India Immersion Programme in 2007, click on the link on your right.

The Immersion Programme to Chennai, India this year will be from 31st August 08 to 5th September 08. Like last year, our immersion to India this year will be as (if not more) interesting and enriching. Many exciting activites are definitely awaiting us.

In addition to providing a platform for our pupils to transfer their learning in art and ICT skills in a real context, this year's immersion to India will have an added focus. Our pupils will be given the opportunity to experience how art and ICT skills can be used to benefit the less fortunates in the society. Working alongside their peers in Chennai, our pupils will truly experience the meaning of giving selflessly to the society. We will be raising funds, collect old story books and help to create a library corner for the less fortunates in Chennai.

Every week, there will be new post to keep everyone excited and informed of the pupils' learning and collaboration beyond the walls of their classrooms. So stay close to our blog to read more.

Dual Facets of Learning Beyond Classroom: Virtual & Immersive

The ubiquitous use of technology has made ICT skills a basic literacy for the future and this new literacy, coupled with the school vision of nurturing future-ready citizens with character, has prompted the need to re-define learning beyond classroom, in a borderless world. Hence, “Dual Facets of Learning Beyond Classroom: Virtual & Immersive” is conceptualized to define a new learning environment for the future where the school reckons that a virtual and immersive environment is essential to prepare our pupils for the future.

True to the school's spirit of innovation where the teachers are encouraged to constantly question the status quo and the ways things are being done, teachers re-invent how overseas immersion programme can be implemented to be in alignment to the school's vision and strategic thrusts in developing our pupils holistically and adopting ICT for teaching and learning. By leveraging on technology extensively before and throughout the entire trip, technology is used to complement engaged learning activities such as mind-mapping, news reporting and timeline creation as pupils apply a variety of skills (namely reflection, observation, comparison, sorting and organizational skills) in their learning.

Essentially, not only will pupils use technology for engaged learning, the new learning environment will provide an excellent platform to broaden pupils' global outlook as they interact and collaborate with real counterparts beyond Singapore. Having to be independent and to work and live as a team during the trip will also help to build our pupils' resilience and character – an alignment to the school's vision of nurturing future-ready citizens of character.
